Demet Divaroren

Demet Divaroren was born in her mother’s childhood home in Adana, Turkey and migrated to Australia with her family when she was six months old. She is the co-editor of CBCA shortlisted anthology Coming of Age: Growing Up Muslim in Australia (Allen & Unwin). Her writing has appeared in Griffith REVIEW, Scribe’s New Australian Stories anthology, Island magazine, The Age Epicure and The Big Issue. Her debut novel Living on Hope Street is a contemporary young adult story that delves beyond stereotypes to explore themes of intergenerational violence, cross-cultural friendships, class and multiculturalism. Demet teaches creative writing at Victoria Polytechnic.
