Arnold Zable is an acclaimed writer, novelist and human rights advocate. His books include ‘Jewels and Ashes’, ‘Cafe Scheherazade’, ‘The Fig Tree’, ‘Scraps of Heaven’, ‘Sea of Many Returns’, ‘Violin Lessons’, and most recently, ‘The Fighter’ which has been short listed in both the Victorian and NSW Premiers awards. The author of numerous stories, essays, columns, features and works for theatre, he is immediate past president of PEN Melbourne, an ambassador of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and a patron of Sanctuary. Among his many awards, he has received the Voltaire Prize for the promotion of freedom of speech.
