Born on the Cambodia-Thai border, Kalyan is a Cambodian-Chinese businesswoman, social activist and artist. She is currently the president of the Cambodia Australia New Zealand Exchange Mission, dedicated to bridging links between Cambodia Australia-New Zealand by encouraging trade, tourism, culture and community links.
Kalyan’s artistic work includes experimental exploratory fiction and poetry, music composition, graphic design and experimental film making. Her work focuses on domestic settings, political fairytales, silent issues and plight of refugees. She is currently working on her novel Sinking in a Sparrow’s eye, a faith and culture creative encyclopaedia with young people.
