The writing life isn’t an easy path for anyone, but for writers of colour, this path is compounded by insecurities – it’s all too easy for writers of colour to feel excluded in a world that normalises whiteness and withholds opportunities for artistic development. This discussion examines the ups and downs of writing as a person of colour and explores why it’s important to frame writing by minority writers as universal.
